By Dr. Shahin Samadi — Available in Kindle, Paperback, Hardcover & Audiobook

Navigating the Flow of Life

Currents of Being is a two-volume exploration of how identity, meaning, and resilience are shaped over time — by history, culture, and lived experience. Drawing from memory, reflection, and observation, Dr. Shahin Samadi traces the forces that carry individuals across borders, belief systems, and eras of change.

The River of Life: Roots, Revolution & Resilience

What happens to a country you cannot go back to?

Dr. Shahin Samadi left Tehran in the summer of 1976, at fifteen, to attend college in the United States. By the time he understood that he would not be going back, the country he knew no longer existed. He wrote Volume I so the generations after him would know where the family comes from, because they have never had the chance to go and see it for themselves.

It moves through Tabriz, Tehran, Shiraz, Bandar Pahlavi, Khorramabad and Mashhad, carrying the ancestral history of the Amarlu tribe, the summers at the Caspian, the food, the poetry and the ordinary afternoons. Then it follows what happened to all of it after 1979, and what it took to build a life on the other side of the world. This is not a political analysis written from outside. It is lived history, honest about what was lost and about what was never as solid as it looked.

“Narrator Wence Cajucom did a fantastic job of embodying Shahin Samadi’s desperation to survive and create a life worth living. He became Shahin, embraced his flaws, and added heart to the narrative… I highly recommend this audiobook.”

Volume II

Eternal Wisdom: Navigating the Confluence of Science, Faith & the Future

If Volume I is where we come from, Volume II is what a life spent crossing between them has taught.

In Eternal Wisdom, Dr. Samadi turns from memoir to the questions that kept returning. How civilizations rise and fall, and why post-1979 Iran and post-communist Russia rhyme more than either would admit. What water scarcity and migration are likely to do to the century ahead. What always-on technology is doing to human attention, and what a person can do about it. How to separate personal faith from organized religion without losing either, and what Rumi and Saadi understood about all of it long before we did. On each subject he says what he has come to think and how he arrived there, and then stops, leaving readers to form their own view.
